Welcome Newcomers
The Council extends a welcome to anyone attending the Annual Conference for the first time. We are sponsoring a Newcomers’ Reception on Wednesday, September 17th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. During this event you will meet with Council Board Members, your Regional President and officers, pick up a regional souvenir, schedules of the TRIO meetings in your region for the next year, and meet other professionals new to the Annual Conference.
To indicate that you are a Newcomer, please answer the question (Is this your first Council Annual Conference?) which appears on the Conference Registration Form. You will receive a special invitation in the mail to attend the 2008 Newcomers Reception.

Invitation to Exhibit
Be an exhibitor at the Council’s 27th Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate your products and services and improve your visibility with college access and retention professionals.
Our conference theme is “The Competitiveness Imperative.” We anticipate attendance by college opportunity professionals from North America, Europe, and the Pacific Islands. It will be an outstanding opportunity to demonstrate your products and services, build lasting connections, and improve your visibility with college access professionals.
We anticipate attracting more than 2,000 participants to the Washington Hilton and Towers in Washington, D.C. Some of our individual conference events will have corporate sponsorship, further broadening conference participation. This meeting promises to be the best one yet.

Accommodations
Hotel arrangements at the Washington Hilton and Towers must be made separately by each attendee. Call Washington Hilton Reservations at (800) 445-8667 or (202) 483-3000 and refer to the Council for Opportunity in Education Room Block.
For the days of the conference, each room rate below will include: Council/Hilton meal package of $79.20 (inclusive of tax) per person per night; one set (single rate) or two sets (double rate) of meal tickets for four (4) meal functions: Opening Reception, Thursday Dinner, TRIO Achievers’ Luncheon, and Saturday Full Breakfast.
Wednesday (9/17)—Friday (9/19): $296.20/standard single; $400.40/standard double; $354.20/Towers single; $458.40/Towers double (single rate includes a set of four conference program meal tickets valued at $79.20 per night, minimum of three (3) night stay required).
Sunday (9/14)—Tuesday (9/16) and Saturday (9/20)—Monday (9/22): $217.00/standard single; $242.00/standard double; $275.00/towers single; $300.00/towers double (no meal tickets are included).
Meal Tickets
Additional meal tickets (for those not staying at the Washington Hilton and Towers or for those who may want to bring a guest) may be purchased from the Hilton separately or as a package at the Washington Hilton and Towers during the Conference dates (with a credit card or college/agency check payable to the Washington Hilton and Towers only) as set by the hotel. A package of four (4) meal functions is available for $273.10.

Four meal functions are included if you stay at the Washington Hilton and Towers. The room rates at the Washington Hilton and Towers for September 17th, 18th, and 19th include a set of tickets for four meal functions: the Opening Reception, one full breakfast, the TRIO Achievers’ Luncheon, and the Educational Opportunity Dinner.
***** For Conference participants not wishing to partake of a particular meal, access to all program meal functions except the Opening Reception is available 30 minutes after the start of the food service. Please see the hotel staff to be seated in the theater chairs at the back of the ballroom.
