Council for Opportunity in Education

What is Fair Share?

KEEP TRIO MOVING AND WE ALL BENEFIT!

The Council for Opportunity in Education depends on institutional memberships, subscriptions, and personal contributions as its major source of operating revenue. Fair Share is the sharing of budgetary responsibility needed for the Council for Opportunity in Education to operate based on the relative number of TRIO projects in an area. The Council's Board of Directors votes on the General Administrative Budget (GAB) of the Council. The GAB supports the critical work of the Council not supported by outside grants. The Fair Share is then calculated using the GAB amount.

How is Fair Share collected?

In four ways:

  1. Regional Membership Dues

Fair Share Campaigns

Regional and State Presidents, along with Fair Share Coordinators have been working hard this year to raise money from Institutional Memberships, Subscription Packages and Personal Donations.  In the fall of 2009, the 10 payments for 10 months (10 for 10) campaign kicked off.  The 10 for 10 campaign was designed to have individuals set up payment plans to give to COE over 10 months.  Each state/territory was given a goal to meet before January 15, 2010.  If they succeeded, the state/territory would get two free COE Policy Seminar registrations.

COE is proud to award the states/territories of ID, Pacific Islands, MA, ME, ND, NH, RI, VT and WY with two free COE Policy Seminar registrations for meeting their goal!  Thank you to everyone for your hard work and support.

The COE Board of Directors Resource Development Committee will announce their spring campaign in the next following weeks.  Stay tuned!
